Justice B S Indrakala — Lifetime of Service to Karnataka

Former Judge of High Court of Karnataka, Justice B S Indrakala has had a distinguished career in public service and private practice, working for and on behalf of the people in Karnataka, India. Most recently Justice BS Indrakala served as the President of State Consumers Dispute Redressal Commission, Karnataka between 2014 and 2019. Appointed by the state government to oversee consumer courts and address consumer disputes. Before assuming the helm of the Commission, Justice B S Indrakala was a judge of the High Court of Karnataka, only the third lady justice of the court.

Ahead of her appointment to the High Court, Justice BS Indrakala had spent close to two decades in the Karnataka judiciary as a District & Session Judge presiding over civil and family courts. She worked in several courts across the state, including Tumkur, Mangalore, and Raichur.

Justice BS Indrakala earned her LLB from Sharada Vilas Law College, University of Mysore. She began her career practising under the law office of T. V. Krishna Rao at the District Courts in Mysore, where she focused on civil and labour law matters. After five years, she delved into private practice, practising at the Bangalore City Civil court, and High Court of Karnataka. She earned recognition for her dedication to serving the needs of citizens. She went ahead to become Government Pleader and in-house legal counsel for Karnataka State Road Transportation Corporation and Karnataka Electricity Board.
